Lower shift cable 8M0176524 is for MerCruiser stern  drives in these series: MC-I, MR, Alpha One and Alpha One Gen II (1978  and newer). These cables are built for long life and maximum performance  in all weather conditions to below zero Fahrenheit. They employ layered  technology structure to create a smooth operating, durable control  cable. Remove old or damaged cable and replace new cable in reverse  order. Easy to do with common tools. Shift cable cannot be repaired,  only replaced.
